Dr. Peavey uses the daVinci ®Robot for various surgical procedures such as hernias, colon resections, and other abdominal surgeries. While it is robotic assisted, the surgeon is in complete control as the robot mimics what is done at the console. Recovery time and pain for patients are both reduced when using robotic surgeries compared to traditional surgeries. Dr. Daigle learned to use the daVinci® System while in medical school in which he used it to assist in ovarian cystectomies and hysterectomies. Depending on the patient and the procedure, laparoscopically performed surgeries can still be used. Dr. Nobles has emphasized the training involved with transitioning to the robotic system as he is currently performing at least five to six robotic surgeries a month after extensive off-site and on-site training. All three doctors have the same mindset when it comes to patient recovery being the biggest advantage of this system.
